「りそなグループ B.LEAGUE 2024-25 シーズン」の開幕に向け、ロイ・ラナヘッドコーチよりブースターの皆様へのメッセージをお届けいたします。

-Introductory thoughts.（はじめに）

As we start another season just want to share my thoughts with our fans.
When I came to Kyoto, I knew how challenging it would be to build a program of excellence here.
Two seasons later I am very proud of how far we’ve come as an organization.
We continue to be proud of the players and staff that helped us get to this point and were able to use their time in Kyoto to ascend to new heights and begin new opportunities.
Through the help of Chairman Takenoshita San, President Kota San and our GM Takuma San we have completely transformed our roster with players who historically would rarely choose Kyoto.
We have built a very high level process in Player Development, Scouting and expanded our talent Identification network around the World.
We have built a high level process in our use of analytics and transformed our Player Heath and Performance program.
We have significantly improved our players experience with facility improvements, which is only in the beginning stage and have focused on creating a great experience for our players and their families in Kyoto.
We are striving to become a first class organization daily. We have climbed significantly in 2 seasons.

新たなシーズンが始まるにあたり、ファンの皆さんに私の考えをお伝えしたいと思います。
京都に来た時、ここで優れたプログラムを構築することがいかに難しいかは分かっていました。
2シーズンが経ち、組織としてここまで来られたことをとても誇りに思っています。
ここまで来るのを助けてくれた選手やスタッフ、そして京都で過ごした時間を活用して新たな高みに登り、機会を掴み、さらに取り組み始めた選手たちを、私たちはこれからも誇りに思います。
会長の竹之下さん、社長の鴻太さん、GMの拓馬さんの助けにより、これまでであれば京都を選ぶことがなかったかもしれない選手たちを獲得することができ、チームを一新しました。
選手育成、スカウティングにおいて非常に高度なプロセスを構築し、世界中に才能発掘ネットワークを拡大しました。
分析の使用において高度なプロセスを構築し、選手の健康とパフォーマンスのプログラムを変革しました。
施設の改善により選手のここでの経験を大幅に向上させましたが、これはまだ初期段階であり、京都の選手とその家族に素晴らしい経験を提供することに注力しています。
私たちは日々、一流の組織になることを目指しています。
2 シーズンで大きく成長し、登ることができました。

-Thoughts on our pre season (プレシーズンについての考え）

There are many seasons in a season and Pre-Season is just one.
We added 7 new players in the off season and faced an early challenge we did not anticipate with the addition of Jordan Heath.
Our new players are mostly rotation players who have changed our team and helped us advance our style of play to what we initially envisioned.
Chemistry takes time but we have made great strides this pre-season and genuinely have a group that is willing to sacrifice the individual for winning.
Overall, it has been the best pre-season in my time here in Kyoto.
Our net results were positive, yet we’ve also had some adversity.
These are good things because they will become a reality again as we go through ups and downs of a 60 game season that will include multiple FIBA and All Star Breaks.
It’s is once again why I view pre-season as just one part of a season of many seasons.
We are excited to get started.

シーズンの中にも多くのシーズンがあると考えており、プレシーズンはその1つにすぎません。
オフシーズンに 7 人の新加入選手を加えました。
ジョーダン・ヒース選手の加入もあり、当初は予想していなかった早い段階での課題に直面しました。
新加入選手のほとんどはローテーションプレーヤーで、チームを変え、当初思い描いていたプレイスタイルをより進化させるために活躍をしてくれています。
ケミストリーの構築には時間がかかりますが、プレシーズンで大きな進歩を遂げ、勝つために個人を犠牲にする覚悟のあるグループが本当にできていると感じています。
総じて、これまでの京都での私の在籍期間で最高のプレシーズンを過ごすことができました。
最終的な結果はポジティブなものでしたが、中には逆境もありました。それも含めて良いことだと思っています。
なぜなら、FIBAブレイクやオールスターブレイク(バイウィーク）が複数回含まれる60試合のシーズンにあるような浮き沈みを経験する中で、再びそのような現実に直面する機会も今後出てくるからです。
これが、私がプレシーズンを多くのシーズンがある中の1つにすぎないと考える理由です。
これからシーズンが始まるのが楽しみです。

-Thoughts on expectations (期待への考え）

It is a good thing to have expectations.
It shows that we are progressing.
We are not running from expectations but embracing the challenge.
We will continue to focus on the things we can control internally but feel a strong desire to reward our fans and supporters for all the positive support they give us continuously.
Last season we had a very young team and this season we have added many veterans.
We will rely on them greatly but also work to manage their physical load through a long season that can be very challenging mentally and physically.
Our veteran players are good players that will have the opportunity to perform.
We want them to help us lead but we support their aspirations to continue being great players who drive winning.
We are very excited about our returning players.
All have come back better.
We choose these players because we believe in them and that belief has not changed.
We understood that we were going to have to take young high upside talent, learn to be patient and let them learn through struggle.
That was and is hard but we are better for it now.
Although our desire to become great quickly is strong.
We also understand that our choices, decisions and discipline to commit to our system and principles will define this group.
There are no shortcuts to winning and the timelines are not always linear.
Excellence requires a consistency in a season or over the course of many seasons when you are building Championship Level Program.

期待を持つことは良いことです。
それは私たちが進歩していることを示しています。
私たちは期待から逃げているのではなく、挑戦を受け入れています。
私たちは引き続きチーム内でコントロールできることに焦点を当てますが、ファンやブースターの皆様が継続的に私たちに与えてくれるすべての前向きなサポートに報いたいという強い想いを抱いています。
昨シーズンは非常に若いチームでしたが、今シーズンは多くのベテラン選手を加えました。
私たちは彼らに頼る部分も多くなりますが、精神的にも肉体的にも非常に厳しい長いシーズンを通して、彼らの身体的負荷をうまく管理していくことにも取り組みます。
私たちのベテランは皆優れた選手であり、活躍する機会があります。
私たちは彼らにリーダーシップを発揮してもらいたいと思っていますが、勝利を牽引する素晴らしいプレーヤーであり続けるという彼らの熱意をサポートしています。
私たちは昨シーズンから戻ってきてくれた選手たちにもとても興奮しています。
全員がより良くなって戻ってきました。
私たちがこれらの選手を選んだのは、彼らを信じているからです。
その信念は変わっていません。
私たちは、若くて高い可能性を秘めたタレントを獲得し、忍耐強くなることを学び、苦労を通して学ばせる必要があることを理解していました。
昨シーズンは困難でしたし、今も簡単ではありませんが、私たちはより良くなっています。
早く偉大になりたいという強い願望はありますが、私たちの選択、決断、そしてシステムと原則にコミットする規律が、このグループを定義するものであることも理解しています。
勝利への近道はなく、タイムラインは必ずしも直線的ではありません。
チャンピオンシップレベルのプログラムを構築する場合、卓越性を求めるには、シーズン中の一貫性、そして何シーズンにもわたる一貫性が必要となってきます

-Thoughts on the B League (Bリーグについての考え）

I am honored to lead this group and we are very proud of the growth and transformation of this team and program in 2 seasons.
The B League has continuously evolved as a league and is quickly becoming one of the best leagues in the world.
Our Japanese players are getting stronger and stronger as we saw in this summer’s Olympics and the number of high level players from the top leagues in the world coming to Japan continues to rise every season.
The league is getting stronger and we are evolving with it.
We have become a solid B1 team that is now attempting to climb to next step.
We will remain humble in our pursuit but confident in our ambition.
Anything is possible in Kyoto now that we are in a new stage, but we also understand that it will be a great challenge.
Nothing is going to be given to us and success is not easy.
It’s the constant commitment to excellence that will take us to the next stage in the growth of our program.
We have to earn the heights of our aspirations.
We will continue to give everything we can to continue climbing.
We look forward to serving our fans as we continue our climb together in season 3!

このグループを率いることができて光栄です。
2シーズンにわたるこのチームとプログラムの成長と変革を非常に誇りに思っています。
Bリーグは、リーグとして継続的に進化しており、急速に世界最高のリーグの1つになりつつあります。
今年の夏のオリンピックで見られたように、日本の選手はますます強くなり、世界のトップリーグから日本に来るハイレベルな選手の数はシーズンごとに増え続けています。
リーグは強くなり、私たちもそれとともに進化しています。
私たちは堅実なB1チームとなり、現在次のステップに上がろうとしています。
私たちは追求する過程において謙虚であり続けますが、野心には自信を持っています。
京都が新しいステージに立とうとしている今、不可能なことは何もないですが、大きな挑戦になることも理解しています。
何も与えられることはなく、成功は簡単ではありません。
プログラムの成長において次のステージに進むには、常に卓越性を追求し続ける必要があります。
私たちは、目標の高みを目指して努力し続けなければなりません。
これからも全力を尽くして、登り続けます。
3年目ですが、共に登り続けながら、ファンの皆様に喜んでいただけることを楽しみにしています。
